BPS Student Registration

Welcome to the Braintree Public Schools!

The Braintree Public School (BPS) system services over 5,800 students. Beyond the academic day and year, students are able to access multiple opportunities in academic and social clubs and activities, visual and performing arts, athletics, and extended year support services and programs.

We are happy to welcome all permanent residents of the Town of Braintree to the Braintree Schools.

Preschool

  • Children must be 3 years of age and a resident of Braintree before they can enroll.

  • On 2/1/22 we began accepting requests by phone on a first come first served basis for September.

  • Screening sessions are held in April and May to assess the eligibility of community peers. During the screening process, children visit the preschool for approximately 45 minutes to play with a variety of therapists who will observe their language, academic readiness, social interactions, gross and fine motor skills.

  • Classroom rosters will be completed in early June.

  • Waiting List: Our availability for community student placement changes from year to year based upon the ages of our special education students. Registration does not guarantee a placement in the preschool. Applications we receive after the allotted placements are filled can be placed on a waiting list. No deposit is required at this time. If a placement becomes available, then we will schedule a screening session. We must receive confirmation within one week or the placement offering will be forfeited and we will offer the placement to the next student on the waiting list.

Kindergarten

  • Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years of age by August 31st of the year of enrollment and a resident of Braintree.

  • Registration is being held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 - January 20, 2023. All registrations received after this period are given half-day placement and any full-day requests are wait-listed for consideration based on availability and on the order they are received.

  • January registrants receive email notification of their child’s placement in either full or half-day program by the beginning of March. Should a lottery be needed for specific full-day Kindergarten placement requests, those families are notified and information about the lottery process is provided.

  • New student(s) requiring Kindergarten placement for the current school year should contact the Braintree Public Schools Administration building at 781 794-8476.

Grades 1 - 12

  • Children entering first grade must be 6 years of age by August 31st of the year of enrollment and a resident of Braintree.
